This week we have been working on wildlife water stations.
We have had a hot summer and a very long period of drought.
Throughout this arrid time we have been topping up water containers for local wildlife around the University of York grounds.
This helped a little but was time consuming and the water soon evaporated in the heat of the sun.Now the purpose of this water station was to make sure surviving wildlife after a bushfire had the potential to find clean drinking water.
So we purchased the required components and built our own water stations.
We made one small change, which was to add a screen so as we can introduce small stones. These help insects to get to the water and also a means of escape if they fall in.
Hopefully this week we will get all our water stations set up around the University campus.
We are hoping to have 20 set up in total, which will help a lot of wildlife.
They are big they are ugly, but they do provide much needed water.
